(2) Capacity to handle a large increase in H-1B visas

Revived U.S. legislation proposes to increase the number of H-1B visas from 65,000/annum to between 115,000 to 200,000/annum.  SDD Global stands ready to handle the resulting increased workload.   Indeed, it is ideally suited for the mission, given the fact that the majority of these visas will be granted to Indian professionals seeking to work in the U.S.


(3) Expertise in the Guest Worker Program

Whereas uncertainty remains about the terms and conditions of the much-discussed Guest Worker Program, which would match willing foreign employees to a U.S. employers, when such a program become law, SDD Global will have a system in place to process hundreds of thousands of applications through the immigration system for this program.

Under revived legislation to be further defined by the U.S. Congress, tougher sanctions will be imposed on employers who do not verify the immigration status of their current and future labor-force. Mandatory electronic verification systems will be put into effect for all employers.

Current technology, procedures and databases available to U.S. multinationals are cost- prohibitive and subject to extreme inaccuracies.  Additionally, there is a high risk of privacy breaches. The Comprehensive Immigration Act as proposed by the U.S. Senate would provide various paths to legal status with differing requirements for an number of the estimated 11-12 million undocumented immigrants who live, work and pay taxes in the U.S. The reform measures promise to: 

  • Greatly reduce the immigration backlogs that currently cause family separation and business frustration;
  • Expand and reform the existing H-2A guest worker program for agricultural workers (AgJOBS) and create a new H-2C program granting up to 200,000 annual visas for low-skilled workers and others whose job types are not covered by current guest worker provisions;  
  • Expand the “Basic Pilot” electronic employment eligibility verification system -- currently being used on a voluntary basis by a few thousand employers -- to a mandatory program that must be applied to all 50 million annual new hires in the U.S.; 
  • The proposed Act  declares  English to be the "national language" of the U.S. and would provide that, unless otherwise provided by law, individuals do not have a legal entitlement to services or materials in any other language.
